Outlook magazine published an issue dedicated to women’s cricket, and I wrote an essay on the recent growth of the sport in India.
The piece tracked the journey of women’s cricket from being played in front of sparse crowds to capturing the imagination of the nation with victory at the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025.
Looking ahead to the challenges of keeping up the momentum, I wrote: The true fruits of the recent revolution will be seen in the next few years when young girls inspired to flock to academies and training centres today will stand tall in their India blue.

There were some lovely stories in the issue, reflecting the realities of cricketers from Kerala to Kashmir. Even after nearly two decades in the profession, I find I still feel the thrill of my byline in print. Especially when it shares space with such carefully put-together reporting.
